About Me

Hello! My name is Chardai Grays and I am currently a math and science specialist in the Spring Independent School District. I completed my Master's degree in Educational Leadership at the University of St. Thomas. I have two rescue dogs, Samatha and Xena, that I absolutely love.

I believe education is the key to having an impactful legacy. Educators can improve student achievement by creating effective systems, building meaningful relationships with students, parents, and community leaders, and utilizing a strong instructional team.

Leadership Philosophy

Educational leaders are tasked with ensuring all students, regardless of income and demographics, receive an equitable education. Oftentimes, students in low-income areas are systematically excluded from educational opportunities and experiences. It is my belief that when faculty and students are in safe, culturally responsive, and stimulating learning environment, all students can receive a top-tier education and grow to their fullest potential. Educational leaders have the responsibility to cultivate new leaders, increase student achievement, and grow individual capacities. Therefore, it is important to have a strong vision of academic success for all students, clear and measurable goals for teachers and students, and knowledge of research-based best practices.

Through my years as a high school math teacher, I've come to understand the impact teachers and administrators have on student success. Therefore, as a leader, I understand the importance of building a cooperative team, delegating responsibilities, and building leadership skills. Personally, I have experienced the most growth when I was able to attend professional developments and share what I learned with my colleagues. By forming this network of collaboration and support, we were able to develop systems that work for our students.

Creating a safe and transformational educational experience requires key elements:

  1. Building relationship with parents and community members

  2. Continuous professional development for administrators and teachers

  3. Setting up systems for strong Professional Learning Communities

  4. Using data to drive decision-making

  5. High expectation for student success

I am positive that a commitment to these pillars will provide a well-balanced, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
